Short Clips of Life in Korea #46 - Celebrating Chuseok With My Relatives
I celebrate the Korean National holiday called Chuseok (pronounced 'Choo-sok').
It is a holiday to celebrate the harvest, very similar to that of the American Thanksgiving.
But Chuseok is held in September, and part of Chuseok is honoring the spirits of our Korean ancestors.
In this video, you will watch the ceremony of honoring my deceased family members (my grandfather and my mom's younger brother -- who was the eldest son). My grandfather passed away in 2009 and my uncle passed away at a young age in 1986 from kidney failure.
I apologize for the "knocking" sound in the video... the sound is coming from the bedroom door, where my aunt's dogs were kept while we performed the ceremony. We eventually let them out because they just wouldn't stop knocking on the door.
